The thrill extends to new tablets, smartwatches, and computers as well—fresh out of the box, boasting a pristine operating system with no added software, truly a factory-fresh experience.

Embracing technology and staying current with the times.

In recent months, Steltronic has been dedicated to ongoing development, actively creating and refining new software for the Focus-NEX automatic scoring system. Bowling centers currently utilizing the Focus-NEX software to streamline their operations have consistently approached Steltronic with requests for additional features and bug fixes.

As of now, our latest iteration of the Focus-NEX software stands at version 19.0.5.1. We are excited to highlight the array of new features that accompany this version, all of which are readily available through a complimentary update.

• Social Distancing Teams: Our Focus league management now accommodates social distancing. If you have leagues that are splitting up the teams, the current BLS 2021 software is supported by Steltronic Focus and now has the ability to split the teams into different time blocks, or split the teams onto different lanes if you have more lanes available.
• Estimated Time Remaining: If you sell bowling by the game, it’s not easy to figure out when lanes will become available for the next customer, however it’s now available with Focus-NEX, the main desk has the estimated time of completion for the bowlers to finish their games.
• VAT number: For the bowling centers that need to display the value added tax (VAT) number on the receipts, this feature is now available for the printed paper cash receipts.
• Credit Card Receipts: If your bowling center processes credit cards, you can configure Focus-NEX on how you want to handle the paper receipts. All credit card transactions require at least one paper receipt for the customer to sign, but the secondary receipt can be turned off permanently, or a prompt to ask if it needs to be printed for the customer.
• Tax Free Sale: Sometimes you have a party that is sales tax exempt, or maybe the players are military. Now in Focus-Nex, you can sell bowling as you normally do, but with the added “sales tax free” button, you can remove the sales tax from the sale when necessary.
• Percentage discount: Sometimes you need to make the entire sale of bowling, food, drinks, pool tables, whatever you sell, if the transaction needs to be discounted by a specific percentage, this is now available on a “per sale” event with a single touch of a button on the income screen of Focus-NEX.
• Integration with Posi-Touch: If your center uses Posi-Touch systems, you now the ability to integrate the Posi system directly with Steltronic Focus-NEX.
• New Score Print Manager: Newly added for Focus-NEX, you can now manage what scores to print, along with the details of every ball rolled and which pins were standing. Statistical data is available on the new printouts.
• World Bowling Scoring Method: The world bowling method of scoring has been implemented, where a 300 game is still the best score, but for less than perfect games, future frames of bowling will not affect your previous frames score. For example, we know that in traditional scoring if you have a strike in frame 1, your score is calculated based on the next frame of bowling, but in the new world bowling method, it’s an automatic score of 30 in the first frame. • Lane numbers: Now you can display the lane number on the overhead or lower monitors, and you can design how it looks on the monitor, and if the lane number should disappear when the bowling begins, or leave it visible all of the time.
• Instant messages: Sending an instant message to any single monitor, or group of monitors is a great way to get a message across to the bowlers without the intercom or paging system.
• Online Booking Integration: Now available with Steltronic Focus-NEX, online bookings with live up to the minute data synced to the front desk when a booking is created outside of the bowling center from a mobile phone or computer that has access to the internet. More details here
• Insert your cell phone image: New for the kids (or adults) in a birthday party on the lanes, you can place their picture from a cell phone onto the overhead monitors and their picture shows up when it’s their turn to bowl, or they roll a strike/spare.
• Residence Home Installations: If you have the Stand-Alone system from Steltronic, there will now be an option to bowl in “residence mode”. This is a simple way to start bowling, no mechanical switch is necessary, just touch the screen or keypad to start bowling, enter the number of players, and you’re off to start bowling. When the last frame is rolled, you’re prompted to roll another ball for the next game, or simply end the games and the pinsetter is turned off.

While the mentioned list provides just a glimpse of the enhancements, numerous bug fixes addressing various issues reported by our customers have also been implemented.

What’s on the horizon?

Anticipated new features for Focus-NEX in December include:

Text customization for reserving/locking lanes: In an upcoming feature, Focus-NEX users will gain the capability to modify the text displayed on monitors when a lane is locked or reserved. The current non-editable text will soon be customizable in the upcoming version.

REQUIREMENTS: If you possess the latest lane computers from Steltronic or have upgraded hardware to Vision-NEX computers, you qualify for these complimentary software updates.

For those with older VGA output Vision lane computers or who purchased our scoring system before 2018, we offer an upgrade program. Send back your older VLC hardware, and we’ll provide you with brand new lane computers complete with a new one-year warranty.
