New to Steltronic in 2020 is the “World Bowling” scoring method. This new way to keep score has features that don’t penalize your strikes and spares based on the frames that succeed strikes and spares.

In other words, with standard scoring, you bowl a strike in frame one, the score for frame one is always 10 plus the next two balls rolled, but with world bowling scoring, you receive an automatic 30 points and it doesn’t matter what you knock down in frame number two.

For a spare in frame one, it’s an automatic 10 points plus your first ball rolled, and it doesn’t matter what you roll in frame number 2.

With this new way to keep score, you roll 10 frames of bowling, and since a spare is an automatic 10 points plus the first ball rolled in the completed frame, there is no “third ball” to roll in the 10th frame, nor are there any extra balls to roll in the 10th frame because your score is an immediate score. The same goes for a strike in the 10th frame, it’s simply an automatic 30 points in frame number 10, so with this new scoring method, a 300 game is still possible, but only 10 strikes scores the perfect game!

With the new score printouts, you have complete control over which games you want to be printed or sent by email, along with ball by ball pin fall display. Each frame of bowling has individual pin fall display, along with which pins were knocked over for the spare.

Add in the calculated totals, and see what pins were picked up the most frequently, highest & lowest game scores, average game score, number of splits/strikes/fouls and many more detailed statistics are also available.

Steltronic has installed many systems that are stand-alone, and typically these have been installed into personal homes, casinos, arcades, and many of the smaller family entertainment locations that did not want or need a front desk cashier to sell bowling lanes.

Now in 2020, the stand-alone systems can bowl in traditional single lane mode, or in crossed mode.

Crossed mode bowling is also referred to as “league style” bowling that will switch lanes every other frame. If you have a stand-alone system with no front desk to sell or free bowling for the home, this new feature is available as a free update because Steltronic always continues with free software and programming updates since 1980 and continues to be the leader in automatic scoring.

New for 2020, we added lane numbers to the lane monitor displays. These new lane numbers can be turned on/off as an option, but for the most part the lane numbers on the overhead and lower monitors can be displayed to help the players find the correct lane without having to look 80 feet down the lane for masking unit lane numbers.

When the bowling has started, the lane numbers will be hidden as to not confuse anyone when bowling is in crossed mode style and to not interfere with all of the other information on the monitors.

New for 2020, Steltronic has added another pinsetter to our lineup of pinsetters interfaced throughout the world.

Imply pinsetters (From Brazil) are now fully interfaced to make this a total of 35 pinsetters that are fully interfaced with Steltronic. 
It's a simple fact for Steltronic, when the industry needs a custom interface, we step up to the plate and take on the task by delivering a professional product to the third party manufacturers found throughout the world. 

Steltronic is here when you need us, sometimes when disasters happen. Shortly before the New Year, one of our customers had a small water leak, and this caused the main bowling server to fail due to water dripping on the server for many hours before it was noticed. 
When the bowling center called in for help, we informed the bowling center that immediately the bowler consoles can act in Stand-Alone mode, therefore absolutely no business was lost and as an additional benefit, when the bowler console acts in stand-alone, even the number of games and/or hours of bowling will be uploaded to the server once it was repaired and up and running. 

Now when the bowler console needs to act as a stand-alone system for a couple of hours during the repair, league play (crossed mode) or open play (single lane mode) is available and your bowling center continues to run as if nothing really ever happened. The customers bowling in your center have no idea there was an issue because Steltronic has you covered, even in the case of a disaster. 

The iconic Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas Nevada recently installed Steltronic scoring in the luxury 3 bedroom suite on the 11th floor of the hotel. 

With an original wooden (not synthetic) bowling lane and a Schmid 81-10 string pinsetter, fully interfaced with a stand-alone Steltronic scoring system in January of 2020. Equipped with a 19 inch commercial grade touch screen for the bowler console, this system will be the simplest to use by the guests in this 3 bedroom suite. 

Are you aware that Windows 7 support will be discontinued on January 14, 2020?

Windows 7 was released October 22, 2009 to provide 10 years of support and those 10 years are soon coming to an end. Starting January 14, 2020 Microsoft will no longer provide technical assistance and software updates for any PC that still uses Windows 7. 

Steltronic has implemented an upgrade plan for your bowling center should you decide to upgrade. Steltronic will provide a new tower PC as a replacement to your current Windows 7 system. Steltronic will also provide all of the support to get your current information from the Windows 7 computer transferred to the new Windows 10 computer. This is another huge benefit to Steltronic customers because the other scoring companies inform their existing customers that an entire new system is necessary costing 10's of thousands of dollars. 

For centers with a dedicated server, you need not worry because because Windows Server was installed for the operating system and you don't need to upgrade your dedicated server software.

New for 2020 is Steltronic Instant Messaging. From any Focus workstation, you can send an instant message to the lane monitors and you decide how long it remains on the screen in seconds.
For league secretaries, have the front desk send an instant message to the lanes stating a league meeting will take place in the bar at 5:45 PM. 
Snack bar employees can announce to the players on lane 12 your pizza is ready for pickup in the snack bar.
