Windows XP® support from Microsoft has been discontinued
Windows XP® support from Microsoft has been discontinued
SERVICE BULLETIN
Distribution: All bowling centers and Steltronic customers that have Windows XP® as the operating system on their front desk and workstation computers.
Issue: After 12 years, support for Windows XP® has ended on April 8, 2014. There will be no more security updates or technical support for the Windows XP® operating system from Microsoft. It is very important that customers migrate to a modern operating system such as Windows 7® or Windows 8.1®. Customers moving to a modern operating system will benefit from dramatically enhanced security, higher user productivity, and a lower total cost of ownership through improved management capabilities.
Resolution: This news might concern bowling centers that are running the WINS or Focus versions of Steltronic management systems, since many of these centers still run on the Windows XP® platform.
Steltronic has implemented an upgrade plan for your bowling center should you decide to upgrade. Steltronic will provide a new tower PC as a replacement to your current Windows XP® system for the price of $1,895.00, plus freight. This includes all of the support to get your current information from the Windows XP® computer transferred to the new computer.
Note: Bowling centers using Focus software and processing credit cards with the Steltronic system, must upgrade to Windows 7® or Windows 8.1® to remain PCI compliant.
If you would like more information on this upgrade program, please contact the Steltronic service department at (262) 754-2300.
Thank you…
